Today I went to visit some people who are more or less homebound and wanted to receive the sacraments. After a nice visit, when I was leaving, they spontaneously gave me a small envelope – a “little gift of gratitude”. I put it in my bag and sort of forgot about it for a while.
This evening, I saw that Expectant Mother Care, a pro-life organization that provides counseling, advice, free ultrasounds, and other services and resources to expectant mothers, is facing a number of legal challenges because it does not offer (or give referrals for) abortions. They are asking for donations to help cover their legal and operational costs. This is a good organization and a cause that means a lot to me. I hesitated to give, since I am about to take a year of leave of absence in which I will not have regular income, but… I just felt I had to give, so I made a donation – not a big one, but more than I felt really comfortable with, considering the upcoming year.
Then, minutes later, I came across that envelope the people had given me in the morning. I opened it up, and there was the exact amount of money I had just donated to Expectant Mother Care.
It does not always happen that way, but if we do our best to be generous in following Him, God truly does provide, one way or another.
How wonderful! Thanks for sharing.
