Downing Park

Not far from my parish, St Patrick’s, is Downing Park. It’s a pretty place, although some parts are a bit run down and there is something of a problem with trash. Here are a few recent photos I took:

View from the highest point in the park

This structure is fenced off and a bit neglected. Too bad...

The pond and visitors' center (which was closed when I tried to visit...)

The pond and the houses on 3rd Street

Spring is here again!

It’s a pretty park. It’s too bad much of the surrounding neighborhood is not safe (there have been homicides and other violent crimes just a few blocks from here). Otherwise, it would be nice to walk here from the parish.

Beautiful photos. It’s a shame about the safety issues.

The photos are beautiful!!! I guess over time, most parks turn out to be a haven for criminals or drug peddlers, unless there is tight security. I pity the surrounding neighborhood. Anyways back to your picture perfect photography… I think Polly Pond could enter the weekly photo challenge 😉 … but what about the sky in the second photo…compared to the others, it looks ‘bluer than ever’ have you used a color transition?

  3. Thanks! Yes, I played with the colors in the sky in the 2nd and 4th photos, using my photo editing software (the Gimp).
