Keeping our sense of humor

Religion is a serious matter, but God also has a sense of humor – and as long as human beings are involved, there will be the ridiculous alongside the sublime. We need to be able to laugh (especially at ourselves) and keep things in perspective. I think that this article from John Zmirak at is a good defense of this truth.

John Allen provides a good example in his comparison of Catholicism to baseball, which I picked up through this post by Fr John Zuhlsdorf, who excerpts (and comments on) the relevant part of this post, which covers serious topics as well.
