Special thanks to the “Kris Kringle” who has given me three CD’s from my Amazon.com wishlist!
Right now I am listening to one of them, the soundtrack from “The Dark Crystal”, a Jim Henson fantasy film from 1982 that totally entranced me when it came out. I watched it over and over again. I re-watched the film the other day, and still enjoyed it – and realized what a beautiful soundtrack it has! The composer, Trevor Jones, did a fantastic job, in my opinion.
Andrea Bocelli’s “My Christmas” also showed up in my inbox recently. It’s a very nice album, with a selection of the indispensable classic Christmas songs, both religious and secular. It goes on my shelf next to Enya’s “And Winter Came…” and Sarah Brightman’s “A Winter Symphony.”
The third CD (possibly not from the same gift-giver, I’m not sure) is “The Best of Phoebe Snow”. It’s an album that my parents used to play a lot when I was young, and a some of the songs on it have come to my memory over and over again ever since, even though I hadn’t hear the album in twenty years. It’s great to be able to listen to it again!
